• Berry, like all towns, needs a variety of housing and types and affordability, however this is neither a good location nor an appropriate design for this part of Berry.
  • Poor design and totally out of keeping with village character and atmosphere. More appropriate for inner Sydney; low density housing retains the character of the older part of town.
  • Terrace housing is not an architectural feature of Berry and is not in keeping with the character of the town.
  • The proposed design appears to be more about generating profit by over-developing this site than contributing to providing the type of housing that enhances quality of life for the residents.
  • Beautiful gardens are a feature of Berry. This development  makes no contribution to beautifying our town by creating inviting garden spaces around homes.
  • This is a narrow street, which is already busy with parents dropping off and collecting children from the preschool. It is frequently crowded with parked cars and a significant development would make keeping young children safe more risky.
  • There is currently very little room for cars to drive safely down the street during drop off and pick up times, and this is also a route that children use to cycle to and from school.
  • Adding to traffic on this street with residential accommodation of such density would make this a significantly more dangerous street.
  • Greater attention needs to be given to clever use of space to provide residents in properties on multi-dwelling sites with outdoor/garden spaces to create healthy, aesthetically pleasing spaces.
  • Multiple-occupancy developments should be halted until more parking spaces are provided in Berry.
  • Berry is a garden village of modest houses surrounded by gardens and loved by all who visit it.  Re-zoning “old Berry”Low Density to R3 Medium Density will eradicate the gardens and period trees.
  • Retail outlets such as The Wool Store and Mrs Reds Shed add to the charm of Berry, and losing them to R3 development is unacceptable
  • Once this type of housing becomes the “norm”, the essence and charm of Berry is lost and is impossible to regain.
